Referral & Rebates

Patients do not require a referral from a medical practitioner to see Ronit Cohen (APD) unless you would like to claim under the Medicare Benefit Scheme or through the Department of Veteran Affairs.

Private Health

Ronit is registered with most of the leading private health care insurers. You may be eligible for a rebate from your private health insurance company depending on your level of cover. Contact your individual private health insurance company to enquire about your specific rebate entitlement for a dietitian.

Medicare

Medicare rebates are available for certain chronic conditions for up to five sessions per calendar year under a Chronic Disease Management plan. Medicare provides a set rebate for the five sessions with an out-of-pocket expense for some or all sessions and you cannot pay the gap with your private health insurance.

Medicare rebates are also available for patients with eating disorders that meet eligibility criteria for up to twenty sessions per calendar year under a Chronic Disease Management plan. Medicare provides a set rebate for the twenty sessions with an out-of-pocket expense for some or all sessions and you cannot pay the gap with your private health insurance.

Speak to your GP to inquire whether you qualify for a Chronic Disease Management plan.

DVA

Ronit is a registered provider for the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA). DVA card holders are eligible for dietetic consultations without a surcharge only with a valid GP’s DVA referral.
